Any L.J. Smith wood baluster can now be ordered painted with Sherwin-Williams paint colors. Dover White (SW6385), Extra White (SW7006), Alabaster (SW7008) and Pure White (SW7005) are very popular colors. We can, however, quote any Sherwin-Williams color number.
Just call with your wood baluster materials list, along with the desired SW number, and we'll quote the price and lead time.
We are now offering our traditional LJ-4091 box newels with decorative fluted, recessed and raised panels, designed to correspond with other millwork in the home.
The following new box newels are crafted in the same manner as our traditional LJ-4075 box newels. Their solid construction allows for various installation methods.
Our box newel Picture Frame Kits add dimension to plain panel box newels. They are an economical alternative to fluted panel, recessed panel and raised panel box newels. Two moulding sizes are available and each kit comes with 4 square frames (1 for each face of the top block), and 4 rectangular frames (1 for each center panel). Each 8 pc. kit is sold separately.

If you have a tight fit between the throat of a starting step and the stringer, use a little paraffine. Paraffine will allow tight fitting parts to easily slide into place. It can also be used when screwing balusters snug against prefinished material such as treads or landing tread.
